At (JBICDR), we strive to walk that extra mile, delving into ground realities concerning every social segment to plan well in advance. Our commitment to understanding and addressing the needs of the older adult population drives our initiatives and programs.
A notable effort in this direction was our joint field research with the Indian Medical Association (IMA). This extensive study sampled a remarkable unit of around 3000 individuals from the older adult population in the Cochin Corporation area. The findings from this research yielded significant insights into the challenges faced by this demographic and the measures needed to support their well-being.
These insights helped the IMA and the Cochin Corporation take a leap step toward achieving a notable milestone. Cochin became the first Indian city to join the global initiative of "Age-Friendly Cities and Communities," an esteemed commitment by the World Health Organization (WHO).
This achievement reflects the power of research-driven planning and collaboration among organizations dedicated to fostering environments where older adults can live with dignity, security, and active engagement. By championing the cause of our senior citizens, we aim to create sustainable communities that prioritize inclusivity and care for all ages.
